MOHATTA PALACE (BEST TOURISM PLACE OF SINDH)


Sindh is a province which is blessed with lots of God gifted places for tourism.Mohatta Palace is one of the most amazing tourist spot in Sindh.The Mohatta Palace is a museum located in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. Designed by Agha Ahmed Hussain, the palace was built in 1927 in the posh seaside locale of Clifton as the summer home of Shivratan Mohatta, a Hindu Marwari businessman from what is now the modern-day Indian state of Rajasthan. The palace was built in the tradition of stone palaces of Rajasthan, using pink Jodhpur stone in combination with the local yellow stone from nearby Gizri.Mohatta could enjoy this building for only about two decades before the Partition of British India, after which he left Karachi for the new state of India.Mohatta palace has an area of 18,500 sq ft (1,720 m2) and its facade is trimmed with windows, stone brackets, spandrels, domes, balustrades with floral motifs and exquisite railings. 
Mohatta Palace has large stately rooms designed for entertainment on the ground floor and more private facilities on the first floor, where there is a terrace provided with a shade from intense sunlight.

Mohatta Palace is solely made up of teak wood with a polished staircase, long corridors and doors opening within doors. The "barsati” (terrace) of the Mohatta Palace had a beautiful family temple dedicated to the Hindu God, lord Shiva. The amalgam gave the palace a distinctive presence in an elegant neighbourhood, characterised by Indo-Saracenic architecture which was located not far from the sea.In Mohatta Palace there is a large square hall with seven openings leading into a corridor. The hall acts as a datum and around it the corridors are connected to the rooms where different activities are held. On the south between the two rooms is a solid teak wood, polished staircase connecting ground floor and first floor.

WHY MOHATTA PALACE IS VERY FAMOUS?
It is very famous because Mohatta Palace had made his fortune as a ship handler and trader. The architect commissioned for his palace, Ahmed Hussein Agha, was one of the first Muslim architects of India and had come from Jaipur to take up an assignment as chief surveyor for the Karachi Muncipality.
WHO DESIGNED MOHATTA PALACE?
Agha Ahmed Hussain has designed many buildings in Karachi before but Mohatta Palace proved to be a milestone in his career. Shivratan Mohatta lived in this palace for only two years and left Karachi for India in 1947, at the time of partition.
PUBLIC VISIT:-
There is no specific time to visit as the museum is open throughout the year. The museum is closed on certain public holidays though. Doors are open for the public from Tuesday - Sunday from 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
TIMINGS:-
•       Tuesday – Sunday 11.00 am to 6.00 pm.
•       Friday Prayer break between 1.00 pm – 3.00 pm.
•       Monday closed.

Mohatta Palace, aging back 1927 was built by Shivratan Chandraratan Mohatta who was a wealthy businessman and built this fascinating building for the love of his life, his wife. There lies a beautiful story behind its existence and some rumors too of the palace being haunted. This palace is designed in a traditional way of that era with Rajasthan stonework, with a combination of pink Jodhpur stones and local yellow stones from Gizri.

It is a landmark that conveys the timeless love of a husband for his wife, to save her from dying and leaving him behind in this world. It is amazing to visit and see the different colors of the cultural heritage of Pakistan in the museum and witness the sensational construction and precise stonework on every wall. Go and visit the beautiful tourist spot of Karachi and of course don’t get frightened of the tunnel as there is no ghost in there at all.
